The Will County Health Department issued a news release saying the federal government shutdown is not affecting women, infants and children (WIC) food and nutrition service programs.

These services continue to be available at all three health department locations in Joliet, at 501 Ella Ave., Bolingbrook, 323 Quadrangle Drive, and Monee, 5601 West Monee-Manhattan Road.

“We are open for business as usual,” said WIC Coordinator Pat Krause in the release. “The USDA Food and Nutrition Service has assured us that all eligible households should continue to receive WIC services and food benefits as usual.”

Krause added that the construction of the new building is also not affecting WIC services.
