A blood test that measures the number of cancer cells circulating in a patient’s blood might provide a good judgement for how well they are responding to treatments for spreading breast cancer, scientists discovered.
The simple test measures the number of circulating tumour cells (CTCs) in the blood and the number of cells, this is used to determine how their disease is growing.
Researchers hope that doctors might one day use the test to effectively treat patients with metastatic breast cancer. This development is considered very positive among the medical community. This might also help doctors better evaluate the situation.
